The Ayia Napa - Protaras region was explored thoroughly as part of a week-long package tour. As a result, we can say that Cyprus is better to explore by car, as in one region especially long (more than 2 days) there is nothing to do. Public transport is underdeveloped, especially intercity transport. It is better to visit Cyprus not in high season.
Ayia Napa region - there is an opinion that it is the best resort on the island. Is it so?
So the choice fell on it according to the reviews and advice. We visited Cyprus at the end of June 2016. Significant negative impact on the rest of the climate of the island at this time. The sun is very scorching from morning to late evening. All the time blowing icy air! In the end the opinion is unambiguous: Ayia Napa - it looks better on the photo than it actually turns out the rest. On the beach to be uncomfortable - very hot, the water is not the warmest. You want to go to the room and sit under air conditioning...In the evening you will have to walk along unlit road along the water without "promenade" entertainment or you should go out to the central street and walk along the "automobile" promenade. There are stores and cafes...but it's hot and stuffy, there are cars on the road - no relaxation!
Cape Greco is one of the local attractions. You can visit it if you are in Ayia Napa or Protaras. You should not set this attraction as a goal in principle. The views are beautiful, but without any "WOW effect. But be prepared for the wind under the scorching sun.
Protaras is a resort village, which turned out to be better for recreation than Ayia Napa. There are clean beaches, azure water, with no wind and warmer water. And in the evening you can enjoy a chic promenade on a long equipped embankment!
