The Großglockner Hochalpenstraße is a scenic attraction in Austria

You absolutely must come here for "self-respecting" travelers) Großglockner is actually a serpentine road, starting in Salzburg (Fusch an der Großglocknerstrasse), and ends in Carinthia (Heiligendlut). In these regions there are crossing points with a toll - about 38 euros per car (in the evening the price is cheaper). For this cost you can also return on the same road, but only on the same day, at any time, you must keep the check. The road itself is all scenic, but there are still places to intentionally stop by and admire the views, viz:
- Edelweißspitze observation deck ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐-a 360-degree panorama of the whole area, it's gorgeous! What's special about this place is that it's easy to get around, because there is a fork and it takes quite a long ascent up a narrow serpentine road. There is free parking at the top not much, but the rotation of free spots goes quickly.
- A picturesque place on the glacier Murmeltier Sammelsurium ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - a beautiful range of colors and array of melting glacier cause delight) There is also a fork and the glacier will need to make a detour, but it is worth it. Parking is covered and paid by ticket.
The road is pretty far from all the attractions of Austria, the closest to Zell am See. We, for example, drove from the Halstatt region, visited Zell am See, spent the night in Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße, and in the morning with new strength went to ride the serpentine. The ride will take at least 2-3 hours. Then drove to the village and at the same time chic ski resort Alpbach.
