San Sebastian (Donostia) - the pearl of Spain

Spain is washed by seas from the southeast - the Mediterranean Sea, from the north - the Atlantic Ocean. So, tourists, all mostly go to the south, but who has not seen San Sebastian - he has not seen the beauty) In this city it is worth going even across the country. Time to visit the city from 3 days or more. First of all it is homeland of Basque (burnt) cheesecake, but here it is just cheesecake and it is sold everywhere, even just in supermarkets. Secondly, it is a very beautiful city, reminiscent of the Turkish Oludeniz.

What to see in San Sebastian:

  •     Monte Igueldo amusement park, or rather it is the best vantage point in the whole bay
  •     The beach / bay of La Concha and the whole promenade
  •     the old town and the hill of Urgull
  •     Zurriola beach with its waves

Monte Igueldo Hill - a panoramic view of San Sebastian. You will have to pay 2.5 euros per person for the car ride. There is parking at the top, which is essentially what they charge at the entrance, as it is free. You can also take the old-fashioned cable car up here, which you definitely shouldn't do... The landmark on this hill is the Igeldo Amusement Park. Although the park itself is not of any interest, it is small and very outdated) Time to visit the observation deck is not more than 30 minutes, because there is nothing else to do except for the view. But the view is necessary to see! Down near the funicular, there is a large paid parking lot. There is no way to get around Igeldo Hill, the promenade ends with modern sculptures and rocks.

The beach / bay of La Concha is a promenade about 5 km long. There is no entertainment along the promenade, there are hotels and apartments, there is a road, but with limited traffic. But despite the lack of entertainment, the whole promenade with beautiful views of the entire bay!

The Old City and Urgull Hill - San Sebastian attractions

Near the old town and the Urgull hill there are many large paid underground parking lots. Unlike Igueldo, Urgull Hill can be bypassed on foot along the promenade. Within La Concha Bay is beautiful and interesting, but around the corner it's already pretty tedious. But the fact is that for lovers of the promenade along the water here is Paradise! At the foot of Urgul Hill is the pier and the beginning of the trails to climb to the top. The hill is less high than Igeldo, but the views are no less beautiful) Yes, and the walk along the paths during the ascent / descent, fascinating) All the paths are buried in greenery, even in winter! Time to visit the hill is about 1.5 hours. Going down the hill we get right into the old town. Very beautiful, nice and cozy streets with stores and cafes!

Zurriola beach is rather just a beach. The peculiarity is that you can walk here along the same promenade that starts in La Concha Bay. At the end of Zurriola Beach, also called Surf Beach, the waves are gorgeous! You can feel the power of the Atlantic Ocean here!
