Egypt - a country for winter holidays for European tourists. Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh - what to choose and when to go?
A common question, and the answer is easy to get. The main thing is to decide what you want from a trip? December, January and February - do not expect the scorching heat and warm sea. Do not be afraid of the rain) But the wind is the main problem ... Sharm el Sheikh is sheltered from the wind, so most tourists rush there. If you're going to stay in the hotel and plump in the heated pool, then do that. And it's better to go in November or March, so there was no wind and the sea was warm.
But if Egypt for you is a historical and legendary place from the pages of children's books, cartoons and adventure movies, then go to Hurghada. The fact that from Sharm el Sheikh do not go bus tours to the pyramids or to Cairo or Luxor... There are also air excursions, but of course they are not cheap. Ideal of course to come to the region of Cairo and Luxor by yourself for 2 days in each city, and there to travel to the iconic places. However, Hurghada is the center of the main attractions. And it is not very expensive if you take a package tour for 7 days: 1 day - Cairo + pyramids of Giza + Sphinx, 2 day - Luxor temple, 3 - Hurghada waterfront + swimming on a boat with a transparent bottom, like a submarine. Bus tour of course is very exhausting, taking all daylight and half the night. Therefore, between the two days necessarily otpnennoy) Excursions to the iconic places go to the schedule of days of the week. Therefore for the tours find out as soon as you arrived, but even better from the tour operator is at home, so it is most convenient to schedule your trip.
The main sights of Egypt:
- The Pyramids of Giza (includes the largest pyramid of Cheops) and the Sphinx (located on the outskirts of Cairo)
- Cairo City - a colorful city which makes you want to get away from as quickly as possible.
- Luxor temple (Luxor region)
- The Karnak temple (Luxor region)
- Valley of the Kings (Luxor region)
- The Colossi of Memnon (Luxor region)
- Edfu Temple (Luxor region)
- Scuba diving in the Red Sea - a must, either by special boat or by diving
What is the convenience of taking a tour in Egypt? You will have time to see everything, even if only in passing) In this place, it is enough. Passing "enjoy" dirt, garbage, smog and dust of Cairo) Oh do not forget about the traffic jams on the roads - also an interesting spectacle) At this time it is convenient to consider passing cars, loaded 5 times more than they are in size! (they use all sorts of devices - artificial extension of the walls of cars in width and height))))) You will be taken to the legendary mosque of Muhammad Ali, which offers spectacular panoramic views of Cairo, with smog in all its glory) Then you will go to the outskirts of Cairo, where the Giza plateau with the pyramids and the "Big Sphinx", which is not so great and many are upset that in the pictures it seemed more) Pyramids are really great and unusual) Seeing them, you immediately lose the tiredness of 8-hour bus ride in one direction! And you forget that the trip 8 hours back in an hour another)) Near the pyramids a strong wind - warm clothes and a hat - masthave, even in the bright sun! The wind is freezing!!!
Cairo and Egypt in general, if you leave out the tourist spots, look depressing( In Hurghada, as usual we like to do, walked around the regions with locals and their houses, where there are no hotels! It's a sad sight, especially the dirty kids climbing through the trash looking for scrap metal... In Cairo, people live right in cemeteries... Not even in poor India, where they at least make huts out of palm fronds...
The pyramids of Egypt - that's why we came here! But on the first day of arrival, we learned about the region of Luxor. So, not to visit this place, just unforgivable! The pyramids - yes, mega cool! See what you've seen since childhood in the pictures) But all the temples, statues and buildings in the region of Luxor - it is fascinating:
- Luxor Temple.
- Karnak Temple
- Valley of the Kings
- Colossi of Memnon
- Edfu Temple
The above mentioned are within 10-30 minutes drive from each other. Therefore it turns out that a day you can see a lot of wonderful places in one place) None of the photos below, will not pass the scale of the sights seen, and emotions so certainly! Be sure to go yourself and enjoy it as we did.
Hurghada's waterfront is nice, but small. In 30 minutes it will be explored from start to finish. By the way, you can take a boat with a transparent bottom for a ride on the waterfront. But it is better to clarify at the hotel, where there are more beautiful places. We sailed on a boat from the pier near the hotel - we liked it very much. Near the seafront we heard the places "are not fishy" and polluted water, turbidity interferes with the review.
Egypt with its unusual buildings - pyramids and temples, truly cult places - Places of Power! It will be interesting to all from small to large. If you are worried about the fatigue of children or elderly parents - do not worry) emotions from what you see will cover everything - go and take with your loved ones! For children visiting this place will be very memorable) When you come here as an adult, you cannot help but remember how you could only dream to be here as a child.
