The red tour includes a tour of the Red (Kizilçukur, Kizilçukur) and Pink (Gulludere, Gulludere) valleys, as well as the "Open-Air Museum - Gereme"
The main thing is to decide for yourself whether you like to walk on foot. The thing is that Cappadocia should be visited by everyone) Those who like walking on foot, there are lots of paths and valleys with beautiful scenery - from 15 to 30 km a day around the area you are provided for a week. Everyone else is welcome to come too - you can take sightseeing tours and walks on quad bikes and jeep safaris! The valley sightseeing tours involve visiting a small tourist section, with a drive up to the observation deck from above. Which is quite informative and not tedious. You see the scenery and do not have to wind the kilometers.
Those who like walking in nature in a beautiful and unusually magical landscape - rather come to Cappadocia) But only at the end of May or in September!
The open-air museum is "pure PR"! You have to pay entrance fee. It is located 1 km from the center of Goreme. It should be visited by history and art lovers. The main attraction of the museum are the well preserved frescos inside the caves. The rest of the landscapes around are free!
The Pink Valley and Red Valley are visited simultaneously, one moving seamlessly into the other. The entrance to the Red Valley is through the Sword Valley (Kılıçlar Vadisi), which is over the highway (to Urgüp) on the left, just beyond the entrance to the Open Air Museum. A plaque will show you the way (see photo below).
The red valley has nothing to do with "red" color. And in general, it is mostly trails and hills in the woods, you have to jump. The map is confusing, with arrows pointing forward and backward... We were going "forward only"! toward Pink Valley. The Pink Valley is a beautiful pink valley) There are beautiful views if you walk on top and a cozy trail in the woods if you walk on the bottom. It is a must visit either by yourself or with a tour. To get lost will not work, but to understand exactly where the Red ends, and the Pink begins really difficult ... even with a map and a navigator)
The road through the Sword Valley winds its way through a loop, the landmark being the distant pink mountains of the Pink Valley. Sword Valley leads to the road to Red Valley - in the photo below, goes to the right, before the sign for Red Valley to the left.
You can walk through the Rose Valley on the top - beautiful views all around and on the bottom - a cozy path is sunk in the shade of greenery... The pleasure is all in all!
If we summarize the route, we get the following picture. From the center of Göreme, walk or take the road (dolmus to Urgüp) to the "Open Air Museum". There will be a sign to the Sword Valley on the left of the entrance. The road through the Sword Valley already turns back towards Göreme with a deviation to Avanos. After passing through the valley of the Swords, we come to a dirt road that goes to the right until the sign for the Red Valley. It will be on the left and point inland toward Avanos. The Red Valley will lead out to the Pink Valley signs, the road turns left toward Gereme. The Pink Valley ends opposite the village of Chavushin. You can walk to Chavushin and there you can either take Avanos-Gereme dolmus or turn left and walk to Gereme. The whole route is around 15 km. It takes about 6 hours of walking without many resting places.
