The most frequent questions before visiting Plitvice Lakes:

  •     Buy a ticket online

At the link you need to select the date of visit, the time of entry and the number of entrance (1 or 2) to the park. This is new as of summer 2019.

  •     Cost.

You can still buy tickets through the official website or you can visit Plitvice Lakes for free, which we recommend doing while it is realistically possible! The price of an adult admission ticket is 250 Kuhns per day. There are also tickets for multi-day visits. But there's really nothing to do there for more than 4 hours!

  •     Swimming and fishing?

Swimming and fishing are not allowed. You can bring something to eat for the fish, they are real beggars here!

  •     What is the schedule?

You can look up the exact details on the official website. It's definitely open from 8am to 6pm).

  •     Which entrance is better?

The entrances are the same! The optimal "route C" just starts from the first (central) entrance. But that's all marketing. You can walk around the park however you want, with or without signs)

  •     Which route should I choose?

All the routes are described on the official website. The main thing to understand is that the amount you see does not depend on the length of the route. The routes are longer only at the expense of the walking part. "Route C" is the most optimal. The walking part of it covers all the best regions of the park, and where you can cut down on the "monotonous" views, a boat and a steamroller come to the rescue - a kind of attraction extra.

  •     How much time?

Are you a nerd or photographer, a day or two) If a traveler looking for views and sights, 4-6 hours!

  •     Parking?

There is paid parking at the two entrances, the earlier you arrive, the more comfortable it will be to find a spot. You can park during the day too, but you'll have to scramble around looking for a free spot. Parking prices are around 10 bucks an hour during the summer season. Entrance through the barrier, on the button leaves a ticket with the time. When checking out you have to pay first at the ticket office, then stick the same ticket into the machine and the barrier will open.

  •     Where to stay?

There is a network of hotels for fabulous money around the lakes in the radius of 1-2 km. If you have a car it is easier to settle at least 10-20 km far away for the adequate money, and in the morning drive to the parking on the territory of the park. You don't need to book accommodation. Everyone comes for 1-2 days, there is a lot of accommodation, and the turnover is large. Easy to find on your budget. There are no stores in the radius at all, it's worth thinking about in advance.

  •     Food?

There are "cafes" in three places during the walk in the park. On the first pier everything is civilized, it seems that you can have a decent meal. Near the end stop of the train, there are trays with tea and buns. But you will not be hungry.

  •     When is the best time to go?

Definitely not in summer. There is nothing to do there in the heat. There won't be much shade and a lot of people. You can't swim! Ideally in the velvet season - September. By time of day - definitely as early as possible! It is better from 7-8 am, to have time to leave there before the influx of people (13-14 hours of the day)!

  •     How to dress?

The main thing comfortable shoes and a hat either from the sun or from the cold) In September in the 20s it was very cold - about 15 degrees in the afternoon. On the Internet often write about the precipitation in this region, it is worth thinking about it.

  •     Flora and fauna?

There is no particular vegetation. There are no animals. Only ducks and fish beggars)

  •     Do you need a guide?

No! There are signs indicating the routes everywhere. There are no sights.
