What to see in Blanes

  • a small peninsula with a hill right on the seashore, Portal de la Costa Brava (there is a car park right on the seafront, Pàrquing Saba Passeig de Mar) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Platja De Blanes beach is the main part of the promenade in Blanes, with cafes and little shops. A walk there and back takes about 1 hour.
  • the Mirador de Blanes viewpoint (on the way to the botanical garden) - a beautiful view over the town ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Marimurtra Botanical Garden (Jardí Botànic Marimurtra), there is parking near the garden entrance. It is free, but has only a couple of spaces. You basically get here on foot or by taxi; the chance of finding a space in the high season is of the "mission impossible" kind). The garden did not make me squeal with delight, but it is worth a visit. A ticket costs about 10 euros, and when you buy it you get a discount coupon for the next two places, the cactus garden Pinya de Rosa and Santa Clotilde Park, which also cost about 8 euros. A visit takes about 1-1.5 hours. According to the park map there are supposedly several Mirador / viewpoints, but in fact there are no super views, so don't focus on them - you can simply stroll around the park and enjoy nature and the birdsong.⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • the ancient Sant Joan Castle (Castell de Sant Joan de Blanes), parking and entrance to the ruined castle are free. A must-visit, the views are gorgeous!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • a botanical garden / cactus garden on the way from Blanes to Lloret de Mar, "Jardí Botànic Tropical Paratge Pinya de Rosa" (free parking at the entrance). If you have never seen cacti, you can walk around here once. Apart from 3-5 species of cacti there is nothing else here, but the grounds are not small - you can walk around for about 30 minutes) Not worth visiting on its own without the discount. ⭐⭐⭐
  • the landscape park in Lloret de Mar, "Jardins de Santa Clotilde" (you have to look for parking in the neighbourhood; there is free parking along the school). You can stroll around the park for about 40 minutes. It has little alleys and trimmed bushes, nothing fancy - in other words, a walk for unsophisticated tourists). Not worth visiting on its own without the discount. ⭐⭐⭐

You can easily see everything in 1 day, taking at least 5 hours, provided you get around by car.
