The Calanc National Park begins from Cassis and continues to Marseille along the entire coast
What is "calanque" really? It turns out that in French it means bay... That is, in other places - it is called a beautiful bay, but here made a whole landmark) Coves these are actually beautiful and worthy of your visit. Similar places a lot on the Crimean peninsula.
Options for visiting kalanok:
- By boat from Cassis or Marseilles - you can admire them from the water. This type of walk is quite interesting. Since it is actually the best way to look at the coves is from the water.
- By car - some calanques can be visited by driving almost to the water.
- On foot or partly by car, then on foot is a great option for walks. It is convenient to settle in Cassis and organize yourself one or more days on the trails. The nature is beautiful, lots of conifers.
How to get to the Calanque de Port-Miou in Cassis?
From the center of Cassis, drive to the Parking area (there is no free parking). There is no point in driving from the parking lot to point B, there is parking for boat owners only. From the parking lot you will need to walk to point B - barrier, about 15 minutes walk. Between points B and A there is a path (photo below), on the side there is a view to the bay with the boats (in French it is Calanque de Port-Miou). From point A there is a fork in the road to another Calanque de Port Pin. And so you can walk about 20 km along the bays. Don't expect any special views, just a walk in nature.
