Parking in Prague is paid - this is a minus)) But how everything is organized - this is a plus))

Previously there were green and orange parking zones, but for 2019 in the tourist center of Prague they have been replaced by blue and purple zones.

The blue parking zone is for locals.

It's not free for them either, so don't think you can put a rental car with local license plates for free.

Tip: The main difficulty is to distinguish the colors, it can be difficult even for girls ... If in doubt is purple or not, the main thing is that it is not blue))) If it doesn't look like blue, then it is purple. The color is the painted narrow horizontal stripe on the road sign.

The purple parking zone is the paid parking zone in Prague.

It is valid for local and all other license plates. If you have your own car or a locally rented car, this is the parking zone you need. Find the purple color, then look at what is written on the sign. It states the parking times, namely hours and days. Often it will be paid from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays. After that, parking is free. That is, you can park there for free at night. But for overnight parking, it's not very suitable if you can't get your car back before 8am. But that's not a problem either, as you can pay for the required time online. Paying for parking online is done through an app that you don't have to install, you can just open the site in your browser at https://ke-utc.appspot.com/static/index.html. If you find a free space in the purple zone, open the site, there automatically (if you have internet and GPS) will pull up your location and you will pay online by entering the time and license plate number.

Overnight parking is a separate category. It is a closed type of parking.

You need to book a space at least 2-3 days in advance, or better yet. Places are very scarce in the tourist center of Prague. You can enter the parking lot by calling a specific number from the phone number that you indicate when you pay for parking. Payment and transfer of the phone number is all done remotely, for example during a conversation on Vyber. Daily parking is cheaper than by the hour. You can come / go during the paid day an unlimited number of times.

Parking service in the center of Prague:

  •     https://www.mrparkit.com/en (there are various options. You have to click on the map at the top of the site and select the desired region, specify the length of accommodation and payment, contact the contacts on the site)
  •     http://www.garage-parking.cz/p/kontakt.html (there is one place)

Important: don't leave your car without paying for it. Pay attention, there are wreckers all over the city, which take the cars to the impound lots. They also put blockers on the wheels.
