Rotterdam is a must visit to experience the atmosphere of the Netherlands and Europe
The city has many sights and places to walk, so you should stop here for 2 days for sure.
Be sure to spend a whole day visiting Rotterdam's Blijdorp Zoo. The animals are kept in "free-range" areas, close to the wild. An adult can walk around the entire zoo in no less than 6 hours! And that's at an average not quite walking pace. There is a map of animal placement and driving routes, so you can pick up exactly what you want to see.
The second day is entirely devoted to walking around the city! We recommend walking the canals and parks, riding the streetcar, and taking a sightseeing boat on one of the largest ports in the world!
- The canals themselves are an attraction in Rotterdam. You can walk along them for hours on end, all day long. Be sure to feed the birds (ducks, swans, cormorants, gulls, etc.) - it is entertaining). To be most interesting - choose a flock of swans and that they were more, sit down near them and start to get bread from the bag))). Run away quickly, however, if you are afraid to be bitten)
-
The Erasmus Bridge is a beautiful "swan" structure with views of Rotterdam. Also nearby is the pier, where tourist boats depart from to the cargo port. The ticket office is right under the bridge at the end of the bridge (far side of the mast).
- The port of Rotterdam is a city of cargo and ships. It's worth taking an hour-long boat ride, you don't see that everywhere!
- The Euromast is an expensive observation deck. Near the Swan Bridge there is a nice walking park (marked on the map above) and this Euromast with an elevator and a restaurant at the top. You can walk in the park, but there's no point in climbing the mast...it's not the Eiffel Tower) to pay 10 euros for the elevator.
- Kralingse Plas is a lake located in the suburb of Kralingen in Rotterdam (marked on the map above). A great place to meet the sunset, have a picnic and especially a bike ride. There are wooden bridges along the water almost all around the lake. Somewhere the road runs as a path through the greenery. It is possible to walk around the lake in a circle in 2 hours at a walking pace.
