Paris is the dream city of many people in the world - is it that good?
Paris is indeed a fascinating city, with a variety of architecture and many attractions. It basically has it all:
- Architectural works of art - the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, etc.
- Walks in the parks.
- Walks in cozy streets with stores, boutiques and cafes.
- Walks along the Seine River on foot and by boat.
Especially meticulous and a week will not be enough to explore everything) For the average inquisitive tourist 2-3 days will be enough.
The best view of Paris from the Tour Montparnasse
A common opinion is that the best view is from the Eiffel Tower. From it certainly is a beautiful view - you can see the river Seine, but the best view of Paris from Montparnasse Tower! In the field of vision gets a panorama of the whole city, including the main attraction - the Eiffel Tower!
Always be sure to admire the panorama of the city during daylight and dark
During the day you can see all the sights of Paris and plan a route of the walk) In the evening the panorama of Paris is truly amazing! Montparnasse Tower ticket can be bought on the first floor, on the opposite side from the entrance to the malls. Take a ticket for a double visit, it is valid for 24 hours. The Montparnasse tower is open until 23 hours. The elevator takes you to the "restaurant", the 56th floor, where you can see the panorama through the windows. You can go straight up the stairs to the top for three more floors. There you can see 360 degree panorama without any glass obstructions. More precisely, there are glasses, but there are windows through which you can take a photo.
Montparnasse Tower price 2019
A visit twice a day for one ticket will cost you 25 euros. Not cheap, but it's a very vivid emotion) A must visit!
Only "Nocturnal Paris" can be better than Paris.
When to visit Paris? Definitely when it's neither hot nor cold
All the walks will take place in the open air, without shade, so it will be tiring to walk in the summer. Spring and fall would be ideal, but it's worth considering the weather again. Early spring and late fall will be cold and wet, rain again will not allow walking. So the end of May and all of September is best. We visited Paris in October. One day it was sunny with clouds), the second day it was just cloudy and cool, the third day it was drizzling sometimes. Itinerary of walks in Paris can be quite diverse.
The route of Paris - day #1: Montparnasse - Luxembourg Gardens - Louvre - Pont Alexandre III - Casa des Invalides - Montparnasse
Montparnasse Tower - an ordinary modern building with the best view in Paris
The Montparnasse tower (point 5 on the map) is interesting precisely because of the observation decks on the 56th and 59th floors. While enjoying the panorama of the city, it is convenient to determine the route of the walk. Tourist buses run through Paris, which allow you to see the sights without thinking where to go. However, to get the atmosphere of the city, you need to walk the streets of Paris! Accommodation near Montparnasse tower is not cheap (from 200-250 euros per night, including parking). But it is very convenient in terms of location, for a walk on the ring route - day #1.
Luxembourg Garden in Paris (point 1) - park and palace
No super effect. Just a nice park and palace. Not particularly beautiful. Not a must-see.
The Louvre (Point 2) - the world-famous museum in Paris
If you are an art lover, you will need to visit the Louvre from the inside) However, even if you don't like going to museums, the Louvre should be visited at least from the outside! It is a spectacular and massive building. Louvre is chic in the sunset and glows beautifully when it gets dark. A must-see is the second most important attraction in Paris, after the Eiffel Tower of course.
Alexander III Bridge (point 3) is a beautiful bridge over the Seine River
The photos are interesting, but nothing special. Not a must-see.
The Invalides' House is a beautiful building, like everything else in Paris.)
But it's nothing special. You can only visit it if you're walking or the way passes nearby. Not a must-see.
Paris Day 2: Champ de Mars - Eiffel Tower - Arc de Triomphe - Rue des Champs-Elysées de Commerce
The Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower are the main attractions of Paris.
The Eiffel Tower is of course the main architectural highlight of the city. It's not just a must-see. You have to enjoy it from afar, up close, day and night! The Champ de Mars is a rather "shabby" park in front of the Eiffel Tower. The grass is trampled, the paths are not equipped... It's not much of a park by itself. Rather, it serves as a measure of distance from which to observe the tower. The tower should be seen at the beginning of the Champ de Mars and at the very foot. Climb the Eiffel Tower is possible by elevator and on foot. You will have to stand in line, which even in mid-October (2019) was impressive in size... Prices are not low) In other words it is not comparable to the ascent to the Montparnasse tower - there are no queues, the views are the same + the view of the Eiffel Tower itself.
Eiffel Tower illumination time - 5 minutes at the beginning of each hour
When it gets dark, the Eiffel Tower begins to glow like a Christmas tree in yellow. And at the beginning of each hour illumination with white lights for 5 minutes. It's a sight to behold)
The Arc de Triomphe (Point 3) is the centerpiece of Paris
The architecture is beautiful like everything in Paris. At the top you can climb the stairs and pay) It is located at the beginning of the main shopping street "Champs Elysees". It does not evoke any particular emotion.
Champs-Elysées is a shopping street with brand stores
It is interesting mainly because it is full of big brand stores of world famous brands. Exactly for shopping. Prices are absolutely adequate!
The above described itineraries for both days are based on 6-8 hours of walking. On the second day, the lion's share is shopping)
What to see in Paris in 2-3 days?
- The main sights of the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre.
- See the panorama of the city from Montparnasse tower.
- Do points 1 and 2 during the day and in the evening. It's convenient to walk around during the day and see everything. In the evening, Paris lights up like it's daytime!
- Walk along the Seine River.
- Walk the streets of Paris.
- Go shopping on the Champs-Elysées.
If you set aside the emotion of visiting a new rather spectacular and intense place, you can say that the greatness of the Eiffel Tower and Paris is greatly exaggerated. When you hear since childhood how cool it is to visit Paris... You arrive, and it's quite an ordinary city. It stands out a large number of architectural buildings in "one place", but no more. Some special romance is not in the Eiffel Tower, or in all of Paris. Come here is definitely worthwhile, but a couple of days will be enough. I don't want to come here again.)
