A traveler's medicine cabinet is just the essentials, so there are no upsetting moments! Homeopathic pharmacy - how to find one in a new city and country! Advantages of homeopathic medicine cabinet: small weight and not large volume. It is IMPORTANT that the homeopathic first aid kit be in a luggage bag, wrapped beforehand in food-grade aluminum foil, in order to protect from radiation during airport scans. This article contains preparations intended in one way or another for emergency measures, so the dilution (potency) of homeopathic preparations is recommended as low as possible - 3, 6, 12, or at least 30.

Food in Sri Lanka

Food in Sri Lanka is probably the most important issue to address.

A huge plus is the wide variety of fruits (similar to Thailand) with which you can substitute some food. Everything needs to be washed with soap or treated with boiling water. Prepare your own food, buying products in supermarkets in major cities. Once a week you can make a trip into town for groceries. In the local "mini cafe" and "rotilotochki" is better not to eat at all. At the hotel you can order breakfast, because it will include eggs and bread, and the Sri Lankans know how to cook them) For lunch, it is better to take rice and vegetables, they cook them very tasty and steamed! For dinner, you can take grilled fish, choosing it raw and personally control the degree of cooking. It's better to forget about meat and dairy products for a while - they do not have it or violated the conditions of storage ... What to eat then? Described above))

Colombo is a city of construction and smog

Colombo is a city of construction and smog. Tourists have nothing to do even for a couple of hours! The roads are jammed - you can get through quickly either early in the morning or late at night) During the day the whole city is buzzing with cars beeping!!! It is customary for them to signal that they are just passing next to each other...

Tea Plantations in Sri Lanka

We visited Macwood and Blue Field in the Nuwara Eliya region in 2017. The tour and tea tasting were free. In Unawatuna we found a store with the most delicious tea for us) Now we can't recover information about the factory and the province of cultivation.

How to choose tea? Super Pekoe, Pekoe, Orange pekoe, FBOP (Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe), Broken Orange Pekoe Dust - depending on your taste preferences. We like Orange pekoe because of its deep flavor and medium strength.

Where can I buy tea? Any specialty tea store in Sri Lanka. They are available on the waterfront in a wide range. In the mountainous regions of Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Eliya there are tea plantations themselves and the factories themselves. In the stores at the factories, the tea was more expensive than on the waterfront, because it is all packed. You can safely take tea by weight from open containers. You need a tasting beforehand, which is described here in detail).

Mountain Sri Lanka (Ella, Nuwara Eliya)

What to see in Ella:

  •     Ravana Ella Falls.
  •     Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock
  •     Nine Arches Bridge

What to do in Nuwara Eliya:

  •     A must-do ride on the Ella to Nuwara Eliya train.
  •     Visit tea factories and taste tea

The animal world of Sri Lanka - a sea of emotions!

The animal world of Sri Lanka is a real zoo in real conditions! Especially a lot of interesting things are found if you get off the "tourist" route, move away from the waterfront... It is necessary to walk through the local village, where the "white" will be only you. Mass of emotions is guaranteed! Pets are found everywhere, along the road and in every garden local) That the ram crawls around, or a mongoose will run. If we compare with Phuket (Thailand) and Goa (India), in Sri Lanka critters more than 3 times!!! And how many mosquitoes!!! Take everything - fumigator for the room, spirals for the street, body spray ... might help at least a little)

Sri Lanka, where is the best place to rest?

Sri Lanka, where best to vacation in January - February?

  •     Unawatuna is a great resort with fluffy sand, no wind or waves. Promenade along the road with stores and cafes. There are cafes along the beach. Lodging is plentiful both along the road and along the water.
  •     Galle - good for supermarket and market shopping if you are vacationing in Unawatuna. You should also visit the site of the fort / fortress of Halle. For a beach vacation is not suitable. The wind is strong everywhere.
  •     Mirissa is a great resort. Resting on the beach is possible only on topchans. Wind and waves can be, but insignificantly. The promenade is gorgeous along the water. Lots of accommodation along the road. Near the water there are great mini hotels, not really expensive).
  •     Velighama is a fishing village. Suitable for recreation only surfers. You can come here for shopping and fresh seafood from Mirissa.
  •     Ella and Nuwara Eliya - mountain regions - a must visit!
